April Joyce
Couple and Individual Psychotherapist
April Joyce
Professional profile:
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with couples and individuals wanting to improve the quality of their relationships.
Couples may come for therapy wanting greater emotional and sexual intimacy, or because they’re having the same old arguments that leave them feeling isolated and stuck. They may be struggling with parenting issues, facing the life-stage changes of children leaving home, or dealing with the aftermath of an affair. They may be planning to separate and want help in managing their relationship going forward, particularly if parents.
Individuals might be wanting to work through the difficulties and loss of a previous relationship with the hope of creating more meaningful connections ahead.
I offer a calm, reflective space for feelings and anxieties to be expressed, acknowledged and better understood. I work psychodynamically, meaning consideration is given and links are explored between what is happening in the present to what has been experienced and modelled to us in the past. It is through the development of greater self-awareness that we are more free to make better choices going forward and thereby enable positive change.
I work with clients from a diverse range of ages and life-stages, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, gay and heterosexual.

I trained and qualified at Tavistock Relationships, London where I am a Visiting Clinician and Assessor. I am professionally affiliated to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP)
