Professional Profile

Let’s start with a few simple questions to spark our thoughts- how well do we truly know ourselves? Do we fully understand what’s happening within us, or have we become lost over time, caught up in life’s daily pressures? Many of us struggle to express our thoughts and emotions, often feeling the need to appear strong in a society that discourages vulnerability.

Counselling provides a unique space for open and judgement-free conversation, helping individuals navigate emotional distress. While the idea of booking a counselling session can be daunting and overwhelming, that’s completely normal. The process is gentle, and sessions are tailored to your own pace.

From both personal and professional experience, I have found that therapy rooms create a ‘safe’ environment, allowing individuals to explore their thoughts and emotions on a deeper level. These sessions provide an opportunity to address unresolved issues and gain clarity in a supportive setting.

Recently, I have embarked on a journey into Counselling Children and Young People, driven by a deep empathy and a strong commitment to their emotional well-being. Through my work with them, I have come to appreciate the importance of providing a safe and supportive space where they can explore their thoughts, understand their emotions and uncover their inner resilience and strengths.

In addition, I bring a vast experience within the NHS and voluntary sectors, working with vulnerable and isolated individuals. My role focused on encouraging independence and empowering people to make their own choices. Witnessing their growth and transformation throughout this journey has been incredibly rewarding.

Psychosexual Therapy

Psychosexual therapy is an integrative approach which combines talking therapy with behavioural therapy. It can take place on an individual basis or with a partner. It will involve an assessment of the sexual issue (including any associated medical factors) whilst exploring further how the relationship, sexual development and personal history may be affecting the sexual issue. Behavioural exercises may be discussed in the sessions, which will then be carried out at home to help the individual or couple address their sexual difficulties.

It can also increase positive feelings, such as compassion and self-esteem. People in therapy can learn healthy skills for managing difficult situations, making positive decisions, and reaching goals.
