Relationship and Couple Therapy
Sometimes relationships may undergo periods of stress and it may feel as if they are a source of unhappiness or confusion.
Relationship counselling helps couples and individuals explore problematic patterns that may be affecting their quality of life. The problem may be recurring or after an event or series of events. The aim is to create an awareness of the conscious and unconscious relationship dynamics which creates a better understanding and enables both partners to relate to each other in a healthier way.
We work with a wide range of couples from different cultural backgrounds and sexual orientations. Relationship issues vary considerably, below is a brief exploration of the most common types of relationship issues that are addressed in counselling:
- Affairs and betrayals
- Arguing and conflict
- Fertility issues
- Life transitions (starting a family/children leaving home/retirement)
All our couple therapists have specialist training from the internationally recognised Tavistock Relationships and have extensive experience in working with couples. They are also members of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
